ESPA's first branded spa in the United States, this tropical 20,000 square foot spa spans two stories on a spectacular South Florida oceanfront setting overlooking the white sands and blue waters of the Atlantic ocean.
Working with Miami designer Isabel Saavedra-Tragash, ESPA were involved in the build phase of the project to create the concept and design for this architecturally strong, modernist 5-star spa. ESPA completely reworked an existing space, in order to maximise the spa’s greatest asset – the previously ignored ocean views
ESPA’s expertise was also used to ensure the highest calibre of staff were recruited and trained to the 5-star standards to perform the ESPA range of treatments. It successfully ensured that the pre-opening phases of the project ran smoothly, whilst working to an extremely fast-track schedule from concept to opening in just one year. As testament to its success, ESPA at Acqualina was awarded winner at the Conde Nast annual awards within a year of opening. ESPA continues to work with the spa today through a management contract.

The interior design incorporates materials in keeping with the beach-front locale such as mother of pearl and sea grass wall coverings, driftwood artwork and a Capiz shell hanging sculpture. These natural materials and shapes are complimented by the crisp white upholstery fabrics so appropriate in the intense Florida light. Throughout the spa the play of water and the natural reflective seaside light is maximised so that guests benefit physically from the location and naturally relax.

ESPA designed the holistic journeys (described below), inspired by a fusion of Ayurvedic philosophies and Acqualina’s stunning ocean setting:
Ocean Journey – relax with the benefits of the abundant ocean, from the cooling and calming effects of fresh algae to nourishing marine mud. These are combined with ESPA essential oils to achieve gently soothed skin and a cooling harmony that restores balance to busy minds and emotions.
Earth Journey – an energizing hot stone massage helps to improve circulation, stimulate the mind and bring the body back to balance. A cooling linen wrap then intensifies the benefits of ginger, cinnamon & licorice in the oshadi clay.
