The Hammam has its origin in the Middle East where the effects of high humidity combined with mild radiant heat are well known. The meaning of the term Hammam is ‘you are being washed’ and guests will experience this ritualistic treatment, which combines heat and steam, with pouring of free flowing water, massage with traditional black soap, body scrubs and masks. Crushed ice is used to aid cooling and revitalise the body between heat experiences. Cooling the body will allow for better penetration of heat into the systems of the body and help to increase circulation and aid relaxation.

Rasul at One Spa

A mosaic or stone-clad room used privately or for a couple. Within the anteroom, guests apply therapeutic muds to face, body and hair before relaxing in the main dry heated chamber. Once the mud has dried, steam is released into the chamber at a temperature between 42-46°C with humidity set at 100%, where the mask becomes supple again. After the programmed time, the herbal steam will clear and guests will be doused in an over head shower to gently wash away the mud and impurities from the skin. Benefits are skin cleansing and detoxification, relieving tired and aching muscles, increasing circulation and relaxing the mind and body in preparation for treatments.

Loungers vary in size, shape and material. Often shaped to fit the body contour and heated to ensure total rest and relaxation.

Heated to a temperature between 80-100°C with minimal humidity, this room creates a dry and intense heat to give a purifying effect on the body. A classic Finnish Sauna is usually made out of Hemlock wood whilst the Finnish Rock Sauna includes a feature wall clad in stone. Humidity can be periodically infused into the cabin via automatic infusion or by manually pouring water on to exposed hot rocks. The benefits of a Sauna are to cleanse and detoxify the skin, relieve tired aching muscles and joints and increase circulation.
